Pro-/anti-oxidative properties of dopamine on membrane lipid peroxidation upon X-ray irradiation

Dopamine increased membrane lipid peroxidation in DOPC/DOPS (8:2) liposomes which are consisting of unsaturated lipids, L-?-dioleoylphosphatidylcholine (DOPC) and L-?-dioleoylphosphatidylserine (DOPS). However, when exposed to X-rays at 4 Gy, was mitigated the presence dopamine same level as an antioxidant butylated hydroxyanisole, measured by fluorescence spectroscopy. Meanwhile, 2-phenylethylamine neither enhanced nor suppressed regardless X-ray irradiation. By 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH)-method, showed about 4-fold capacity trolox, had no detectable capacity. It confirmed liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) analysis that oxidation aminochrome irradiation Gy. These results suggest is susceptible autoxidation promotes lipids without X-rays, but upon irradiation, preferentially oxidized together with mitigation peroxidation.
